Worm-Screw Gears

These gears are a mechanism in which a screw is combined with a helical tooth profile. Worm-screw gears offer many advantages and are used in different applications.

Worm-screw gears provide high gear ratio. Therefore, worm-screw gears are preferred in applications where heavy loads must be lifted or displaced.

Another advantage of worm-screw gears is the ability to change direction. Using a gear wheel attached with a screw, the direction of movement can be easily changed.

The helical structure of the gears prevents backsliding and ensures reliable power transmission. This locking feature is important for the security and stability of applications.

Worm-screw gears generally have the advantage of operating at slow speeds. Since they have a helical tooth profile and are generally used in applications requiring high thrust forces, they may not be suitable for operation at high speeds. Apart from this, energy loss and heating may occur due to high friction. They may also require a delicate manufacturing process and require regular maintenance against wear and tear.

When used in appropriate applications, they provide reliable and efficient power transmission in mechanical systems.
